Its funny how things stay the same, as I discovered looking back at the Calgary Olympics of 1988. GMC is still providing the fleet vehicles, people still hug (despite H1N1), and "TORCH" license plates are on the convoy again:
An interesting little tidbit I came across, Olympic Torch Relay plates made their appearance for the first time in Olympic history in 1988. The plates were embossed “TORCH 1 through TORCH 40” and were issued on the standard provincial series.

Of course, in British Columbia plates are only issued with 6 digits, which is why we suspect the words "FLAME" and "RELAY" are also being used.
