As mentioned in the Personalized plate page, the MVB informed motorists in 1954 that plate No. 1 would no longer be released due to the perceived squabbling that would occur amonst motorists vying to obtain plate No. 1 for their cars. Plate No. 1 continued to be manufactured after 1954 with one plate from the set being hung in the Victoria Motor Vehicle Branch (it is these plates that eventually made their way into the hands of collectors many years ago). The second half of the set was purporetdly stored in the Provincial Legislative Buildings, and it is these plates that are pictured below:
