Chauffeur Badges - Kamloops
The following collection of Chauffeur Badges was issued to Cameron MacArthur of Kamloops for a 30 year period between 1941 to 1971.
|
According to his nephew Gordon, MacArthur saved all his chauffeur licenses while trucking in Kamloops and the surrounding area. He hauled log,s gravel, sheep, beans and almost eveyrthing else during those years 1941-1971. He and his parents lived many years on thier farm in Westsyde, 8 km up the North Thompson from Kamloops. MacArthur Estates and MacArthur Road now mark the location of their farm, which has long since been sold and developed. MacArthur was a very frugal hard-working man of habit, nothing was discareded. He was an expert at darning his own socks. He was very modest but was always proud of his driving record-- not a single accident in all those years. Cameron passed on in 1992. |
