Columbia Vehicle Registration Information
Registration Nos. 1,031 - 1,780 (1910)
special thanks to the Royal BC Musuem & BC Archives for allowing the use of these photos,
which are of the Register which comprise part of the records of the Motor Vehicle Branch (File No. GR-0665, Volumes No. 2 & 3).
The pages listed below are from a Register that starts at page number "104" with the registration number 1031 which was to expire on January 7, 1911 (which was a Saturday). It is assumed, therefore, that this Register was used during 1910. Note that there are a number of mssing pages which were not in the Registrer at the time of photographing.
The pages listed below are from a Register that continues from the previous book (listed above) and presents the numbers 1,296 through 1,780. A surprising aspect of the book is the incompleteness with many numbers left blank. For instance, no entries occur between 1,401 and 1,433. Why might this be? Notice that almost all of the entries are for vehicles registered within the Cities of Vancouver & New Westminster (with odd exceptions, such as No. 1,535 in Penticton). One can only surmise that this was maintained by a branch office of the MVB in Vancouver, but it seems like the logical explanation and also explains its duplication with the other Registers covering this period. And what are those surprise entries at the end? Trader (i.e. Dealer) and Chauffeur licenses issued in Vancouver for 1911!
